What is a Doula?

IMG_7246.heic

A doula is a trained support person who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period.

A doula is there to listen, offer evidence-based information, help you explore your options, and provide comfort through the many changes and decisions that come with becoming a parent. During labour, support might look like hands-on comfort measures, movement and positioning, breathing techniques, reassurance, or simply having someone steady beside you.

A doula does not make decisions for you or replace your medical care team. Instead, we work alongside your care providers to support your choices, your voice, and your experience.

If you are in need of medical care or advice please contact you healthcare provider
